Ima Nell Francis, 82, of Plainview passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Friday, June 1, 2012 at Northwest Church of Christ with Lewis Senter and J. Henderson officiating. Interment will follow in Silverton Cemetery under the personal care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held Thursday, May 31, 2012 from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Mrs. Francis was born on July 17, 1929 in Flomot, Texas to Harley & Bertie Morris Gunn. Mrs. Francis graduated from Flomot High School in May of 1946 as Salutatorian of her class. She attended West Texas State College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in May of 1950. Mrs. Francis taught Home Economics at Silverton High School for three years. She married Garland Francis on May 26, 1953 in Flomot, Texas. They lived on a farm and she was a homemaker and helped her husband on the farm. Garland preceded her in death in March of 1980. Mrs. Francis returned to teaching and taught one year at Kress schools and three years at Silverton schools. She moved to Plainview in February of 1984 and taught in Plainview Elementary Schools until 2006. She is survived by one son: Jace Francis of Silverton; two grandchildren: Samantha Smith and husband Aaron and Wesley Francis; two great grandchildren: Hayden Smith and Kenzie Ella Smith; one sister: Geraldine Clary and husband Gene of Tulia; two sisters-in-law: Wilma Gill and husband John of Silverton and Winona Francis of Amarillo; one brother-in-law: Dale Francis of Denver and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents: Harley and Bertie Gunn and one nephew: Brett Gill. The family suggests memorials to Northwest Church of Christ 2000 N. I27, Plainview, TX 79072.
