Billy George Wilson, 79, of Petersburg, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012 in Lubbock. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Petersburg with Rev. Jesse Nave officiating. Burial will follow in Petersburg Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Billy was born on January 20, 1933 to Roy and Okla Loraine Wilson in Rule, Texas. He married Vera Ilene Strickland on February 16, 1950. She preceded him in death on February 10, 2012 . He worked at Petersburg Gin, INC for over 35 years. After retiring from ginning he went into farming. He retired from farming in 2004, or at least that is what he thought. Between his son Larry, and grandson Shane, he was always busy doing something. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Petersburg. Billy is survived by three sons, David Wilson and wife Naomi of Gentry, AR, Larry Wilson and wife Shanda of Petersburg, TX, and Gerry Wilson and wife Debbie of Picayune, MS; one brother, Lee Roy Wilson of Rule, TX; one sister, Elizabeth Byrd of Rochester, TX; eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Okla Loraine Wilson; his wife, Vera Ilene Wilson; six sisters, Maudie, Marie, Bea, Betty, Evelyn, and Cleo; and one brother, Ruric Nevel Wilson. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
