He graduated in 1943 from Hale Center High School. He served in the Army Aircorps from 1943-1946. He married Theresa Andrae on May 20, 1946, in Rhineland, Texas. He graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in 1949. Jimmy was a medical technologist (M.T.A.S.C.P.). In 1950, he joined the staff of Crosbyton Hospital as director of lab and X-Ray. In 1956, he became director of lab and X-ray of Lockney Hospital where he also administered anesthetics. Jimmy was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Lockney’s San Jose Catholic Church where he also served on the parish council. He also served on the Lockney City Council, Floydada Country Club board of directors, and belonged to the Lockney Senior Citizens. Second only to Theresa, Jimmy’s lifelong love was golf. He enjoyed nothing more than a good round with beloved friends and his four sons, frequently slipping down to the golf course before work and then again after work. Even in declining health, he maintained his reputation as an excellent chipper and putter. He was an avid supporter of the Lockney Longhorn football program and the Senior Citizen Center, where he enjoyed long afternoons with lifelong “Slick Baby” friends, spinning lively tales and playing dominoes and 42. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Theresa, of the home, and his family, Gary and wife Debbie of Plainview, Doug and wife Ellen of Richardson, Kevin and wife Michealle of Lockney, Mike of Lubbock, grandchildren Brandye Stennett, Tucker Stennett and wife Athena, Tracey Stennett, Meghen Stennett, Keenan Stennett, Kelsie Stennett, Madison Stennett, and great-granddaughter, Ashlyn Stennett.
