Tulia, Texas—Jo Ann Meadows Baldwin, 79, died Tuesday, July 3, 2012 in Plainview. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, July 5, 2012 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Charles Davenport and Rev. Jason Stone officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Jo Ann was born August 25, 1932 to Dr. Joseph and Pearle Meadows in Vienna, Austria while her dad was attending the University of Vienne to further his medical education. They returned to the US in October 1922 and live in Dallas then to Lamesa, Teas and then to Tulia, Texas in April 1937. The attended schools in Tulia and graduated from Tulia High School in 1950. She went to Wayland Baptist University for 1 year. Then she went to Northwest Texas Hospital School of Nursing and Amarillo College graduating in August 1954. She married Richard O. Baldwin on July 8, 1953 in Tulia. They had two sons: Robert Mark Baldwin and Gary Wayne Baldwin. They moved a lot as her husband was in the USAF living 3 years in France. After living in Michigan and South Dakota they ended up in Ft. Worth, Texas. She worked as an RN everywhere they lived. She moved back to Tulia in May 1980 and worked at the local hospital and for Dr. Richards until 1994. She worked as school nurse at Highland Elementary in Tulia for 6 years. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Tulia. She is preceded in death by her parents: Dr. Joseph and Pearle Meadows, her son and daughter-in-law: Robert Baldwin and his wife Kelly. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Gary and Heather Baldwin, seven grandchildren: Brittney, Christian, Brandie, Gary, Jr., Robert, Brent and Brandon, and two great grandchildren. Also by her beloved sister and brother-in-law: Carolyn and Harold Poage and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
