Cora Fletcher (Plainview)

Cora Fletcher, 89, of Plainview, died July 2, 2012 in Plainview. Interment will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday, July 6, 2012 at Plainview Memorial Park. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 P.M. at St. Marks Episcopal Church under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Cora was born February 24, 1923 to Elzy and Mary Gilbert in Plainview, TX. She married Truitt Fletcher on April 30, 1943 in Tulia, TX. She worked as a secretary for 25 years at Coronado Jr. High. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Sky. Cora loved to write and illustrate stories for her grandchildren and write poems. She also loved to paint, garden, read, cook and fish. She was a member of St. Marks Episcopal Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Truitt Fletcher; her parents, Elzy & Mary Gilbert; and one brother, Fred Gilbert. She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Hilliard of Plainview, TX; two sons, J. Michael Fletcher of Oak Hill, VA, and David Fletcher of Plainview, TX; eight grandchildren, Michael Cognasi, Jennifer Harmon, Mark Fletcher, Kyle Fletcher, Zach Fletcher, Sarah Fletcher, Tom Fletcher, and Mary Fletcher; and two great grandchildren, Savannah & Carolina Cognasi.
