Cyrus Cecil Gallaway, 88, passed away Monday, October 15, 2007 at Plainview Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, October 19, 2007 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Woody Jackson of Lubbock officiating. Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M. at Littlefield Memorial Park under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Cyrus was born on October 28, 1918 in Lubbock to George T. Gallaway and Cloa E. Erb. He grew in up Olton and graduated from Olton High School in 1937. Mr. Gallaway attended Texas A&M for 2 ½ years before serving in the Army during WWII. After the war he moved back to Olton and farmed with his Dad then went to work at Higginbotham- Barlett Lumber Company for several years. He moved to Houston in 1969 and worked for Olsham Lumber and then for Wenco, Inc. until he retired. After retirement he moved back to Olton in 1991. Cyrus married Wilma Boyd in Plainview on March 9, 1997. He is a member of First United Methodist Church and was a Mason for over 60 years as a 32nd degree Mason. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Boyd Gallaway of Plainview; two daughters Jan Moore of Mineral Wells, Cecilia Timmins of Huron, Tennessee; two brothers Charles Gallaway & his wife Eloise of Olton, Wilbur Gallaway of Arlington; one step-daughter Jane Holt of Clearwater, Florida; six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; mother of his children Evelyn Gallaway of Houston. A visitation will be held for family and friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday, October 18, 2007, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors.
