Services for Denzil McMillan, 77, of Plainview will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, June 20, 2005 at the Plainview First United Methodist Church with Rev. Earl Blair, Rev. Bruce Parks and Rev. Horace Abbott officiating. Burial will follow in the Plainview Memorial Park under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton. Mr. McMillan passed away Friday, June 17, 2005 in Plainview. He was born November 9, 1927 in Petersburg to Willie David and Florence Maude Green McMillan. On September 8, 1929 he married Jeane Potts in McAdoo, Texas. He was a graduate of Crosbyton High School and a 1950 graduate of Texas Tech. He received his Certified Public Accountant licence in 1957 and the same year moved to Plainview from Lubbock. He was a member of the Texas Society of CPA's and the American Institute of CPA's. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and served as District Trustee for the Plainview District for the United Methodisdt Churches. He served as Treasurer at Trinity Methodist Church for years. He was a member of the Plainview Optimist Club and Lions Club. He was the score keeper for summer baseball and McMillan Field was named for he and his wife. He was a member of the Plainview Masonic Lodge, Commandery #53 in Plainview and the Knights Templar in Plainview. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Nelda Griffin. Survivors include his wife, Jeane, two sons and their wives, Ronnie and Dawn McMillan and Tommy and Susan McMillan all of Plainview; two brothers W. B. McMillan and Bernice McMillan, both of Lubbock and by one sister, Wynn Nona McMillan of Satanta, Kansas. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Brett and Jill McMillan of Frisco, Texas, Lori and Capt. James Johnston of Plainview and Mosul, Iraq, Lance McMillan of Plainview, Chance McMillan of Plainview and his fiance Kelsey Charron of Pampa and by a great granddaughter, Rileigh Faith Johnston of Plainview. Mr. McMillan will be at Kornerstone Funeral Directors at 201 W. 4th St. in Plainview from Saturday afternoon to Monday at noon with family visitation to he held there from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Sunday. The family suggest memorials to the Plainview Optimist Summer Baseball Program, the Grace United Methodist Church or to a charity of choice.
