Charles B. Martin, Jr., 91, of Plainview, passed away on August 22, 2012 in Plainview. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, August 25, 2012 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Travis Hart officiating and Dr. Tim Marrow assisting. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be held Friday, August 24, 2012 from 6:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Charles B. Martin, Jr. was born on November 14, 1920 in Waco, TX to Charles and Pat Martin. Mr. Martin graduated from Texas A & M University in 1943. He was a World War II Veteran and past County Agent for Oldam County. In 1944 he married the love of his life, LaVerne Gregory in Petersburg, TX. He was the owner of a gas distributorship in Edmonson and Hart, TX. He later managed the Nanny Farms for 30 years. He retired to his ranch in San Saba, TX in 1981 and later pursued his ranching interest in New Mexico. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and a great granddaughter. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Laverne Gregory Martin; two sons and their wives, Mark & Carol Martin of San Saba, TX, and Doug & Erin Martin of Plainview, TX; five grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren, Jim & Amy Faught, Paige, John and Jake of San Saba, TX, Larry & Christa Triplett, Zach & Kenny of San Saba, TX, Russell & Emily Foreman, Cooper, Connor, Marcus & Brynlee of Friendswood, TX; Brad & Kara Martin, Braden, Cole, and Adri of Plainview, TX, and Gerardo & Natalie Zavala, Sofia and Nicholas of San Antonio, TX.
