B. Elvin “Moss” Foster, 96, of Plainview, passed away on August 23, 2012 in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, August 27, 2012 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Mr. Kim Hays officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 26, 2012 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Elvin was born December 30, 1915 to Booker and Ethel Foster in Swisher County. He grew up in the Whitfield Community in Swisher County. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1934. He married LaRue Reid September 8, 1943. He obtained his pilot’s license in 1943. He was a civilian flight instructor for Navy Cadets during WWII in Lubbock and Las Vegas, New Mexico. He farmed his entire life. In 1987 he became a Bank Director for Kress National Bank and continued to serve until his death. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Plainview, Masonic Lodge, and International Flying Farmers. He was also a Certified FAA Flight Examiner and was a member of the AOPA since 1957. He is preceded in death by his wife LaRue Foster; his parents Booker & Ethel Foster; five brothers and three sisters. He is survived by two sons Curtis Foster & wife Jan of Meadowlakes, TX and Gary Foster & wife Jan of Kress, TX; one sister in law, Nadine Foster of Plainview, TX; two cousins, Sarah Harvey Wilkinson & husband Jim of New Orleans, LA, Estaline Foster Cartwright of Abbott, TX; one granddaughter, Karen Foster of Aurora, CO; and two grandsons, Greg Foster & wife Melissa of Houston, TX and Justin Foster of Kress, TX.
