Joe Carothers (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas-Joe Carothers, 86, died at 9:00pm Sunday, June 26, 2005 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Wednesday, June 29, 2005 in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Davenport pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Mr. Carothers was born August 3, 1918 in McNary Co., Tenn. He moved to Garden Valley, Texas near Childress in 1919. He attended schools there and in Childress. He married Helen Burton on August 12, 1944 in Childress. She died March 19, 2003 in Tulia. He moved to Tulia in 1946 and worked for Appleton Motor Company until 1951 when he owned and operated Joe’s Body Shop. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughters: Fayetta Moore of Arlington, Texas Kay Young and Debbie Brock , both of Tulia,. Texas Two sons: Joe L. Carothers of Santa Fe, Texas and Tommy Carothers of Tulia, Texas. 14 Grandchildren and 19 Great Grandchildren.. Memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church, P.O.
