Haskell Glen Smith, 78, of Petersburg, passed away at 5:40 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2005 in Lubbock, Texas. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2005 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ted Wilson of Borger, Texas officiating. Interment will follow in Petersburg Cemetery by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. Smith was born on May 28, 1927 in Lubbock, Texas. He married Jo Brent on October 13, 2003. Mr. Smith grew up south of Bonham, Texas. He attended schools in 3 Pee and graduated from Bailey High School. He joined the Air force and served in the Armed Forces for 22 years before retiring. He flew transport planes for 19 years. He received his 15,000 hour flying pin in 1965. He served through Korea, Vietnam, and Berlin Airlift. He survived a mid-air collision in 1954 over Stockton, California. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the First United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Jo Smith of Petersburg; a son, William T. Coffee of Lubbock, Texas; brother, Addison Smith of Wichita Falls, Texas; granddaughter, Rosa Lee Coffee of Lubbock, Texas; and a host of Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Laura Smith in 2001. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Marlena Coffee, a brother, Billy Earl Smith; and a sister, Marquite Rollin. Memorials maybe made to First United Methodist Church of Petersburg or the Petersburg Cemetery Association.
