John Earl Simpson, Jr. (Tulia)

John Earl Simpson, Jr., 82, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 1, 2005. Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Rob Lindley, pastor, officiating. Mr. Simpson was born on July 26, 1922 to John Earl Simpson, Sr. and Lottie Mae Simpson in Silverton, Texas. He graduated from Lockney High School in 1940. He served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. He was a 50 year member of the Silverton Lodge 754, a 32nd degree Mason and Scottish Rite Shriner. Mr. Simpson owned and operated the Chevrolet Dealership in Silverton and Tulia for 24 years. His many accomplishments include; area director of Texas Automobile Dealers Association, city councilman in Silverton, on the board of United Supply in Lubbock, Tulia School Board, First State Bank, Tulia Chamber of Commerce, Tulia Industrial Foundation, manager of Tulia Wheat Growers and manager of Mackenzie Municipal Water Authority. He farmed and ranched in Briscoe and Swisher counties for many years. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Samantha Simpson Powell Allison in 2004. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Voncille Atchley Simpson of Tulia, Two daughters; Celia Simpson-Bragg of San Angelo, Olivia Adamson and husband Keith of San Antonio One son; John Earl Simpson, III and wife Nita of Tulia, Texas One sister; Eddie Graham of Arlington, Texas Eight Grandchildren Memorials may be made to the Odyssey HealthCare 1000 S.
