Florea Ruth Jones (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Florea Ruth “Jonsie” Jones, 83, of Tulia died Friday, November 23, 2007 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 26, 2007 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Tulia with Mr. Colquitt Nash, Chaplain of Area Community Hospice officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Florea was born in Flomot, Texas on February 9, 1924 to Harvey Orville and Annie Lee (Morris) Washington. She grew up in Flomot and graduated from Flomot High School in 1942. She married A.B. “Burl” Jones on May 2, 1942 in Matador. They lived in Flomot and farmed and later moved to Floyd, New Mexico where they owned and operated a dairy. They moved to Tulia in 1958 where they farmed for many years. Mr. Jones died on October 3, 2007 and she is also preceded in death by a son, A.B. Jones, Jr. in 1969. She is survived by; two sons, Rex Jones and wife Kay of Dumas, Max Jones of Tulia; a daughter-in-law; Judy Clark and husband Dickie of Happy; a sister; Zelma Radney of Sanger; nine grandchildren, Travis Jones, Kimberly Jones, Ryan Jones, Ross Jones, Clint Clark, Justin Clark, Brandon Clark, Jill Holland and Carmyn Harrison; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
