Mary Womack of Happy, 86, died at 4:01 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2005 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2005 in the First Baptist Church of Happy with Rev. Jerry Stewart officiating and Rev. Paul Burwash assisting. Burial will follow in Happy Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Mrs. Womack was born December 14, 1918 in Myra, Texas. She lived in Baybrook, Texas until age nine when her family moved to Lubbock, Texas and then on to Amherst. She graduated from Amherst High School. She married E.A. Womack on October 2, 1936 in Ft. Bliss, Texas. They then moved to Happy. She was a beauty operator in Happy for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Happy, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Red Hat Society. Mr. Womack preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 1986. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Alice Middleton in 1992. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and John Thompson of Granbury, Texas; two sons and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Betty Womack of Tulia, and David Womack of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren; and a very special friend, Cone Johnson of Happy, Texas. The family suggests memorials to the Happy Volunteer Ambulance Service.
