George D. McVicker (Plainview)

George D. McVicker, 75, of Plainview, passed away at 11:08 p.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2005 at Covenant Hospital of Plainview. A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 6, 2005 at College Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Don Robertson, pastor, officating. Cremation arrangements and memorial service are by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. McVicker was born on October 19, 1929 in Plainview to John E. and Louise Duckwall McVicker. He married Elaine Ellis in Plainview, December 23, 1950. Mr. McVicker was a life time residence of Plainview, and member of College Heights Baptist Church. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1949. He had worked at Southwestern Public Service for 38 years as an Journeyman in the transformer shop until he retired in 1990. He was a familiar face at Plainview Country Club on the golf course. He is survived by his wife Elaine McVicker; two daughters Sheila K. Turner and her husband Forrest of Lubbock, Stephanie Lindsey of Albuqerque; two sons John McVicker of Lubbock, George Dee McVicker of Plainview; two sisters Kathryn Carlisle of Plainview, Dorothy Biggers of Terrell; one sister-in-law Jennie McVicker of Muleshoe; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to College Heights Baptist Church Building Fund, 802 Quincy, Plainview, TX 79072. A visitation will be for family and friends at Kornerstone Funeral Directors from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday.
