Tulia, Texas—Robert De La Cruz Rodriquez, 61, died Tuesday, October 16, 2012 in Plainview. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 19, 2012 in the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit in Tulia with burial to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulia. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, October 18, 2012 at the funeral home. Robert Rodriquez was born April 15, 1951 in Plainview. He grew up in Plainview and graduated Plainview High School in 1970. He married Sylvia Jimenez on August 5, 1972. He worked for Owens Corning for 18 years and TDCJ for 10 years but he was a mechanic by trade. He was presently working for Pioneer Seed Co. in Plainview. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit in Tulia. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and camper. He was always busy repairing things and loved teaching his kids to repair things. The love of his life was Sylvia. He loved his grandkids and they called him “Popo”. He is preceded in death by his father: Alfredo Rodriquez. His family includes his wife: Sylvia Rodriquez of Tulia, his mother: Guadalupe Rodriquez of Amarillo, his children: Monica VanZee and husband Tom of Dimmitt, Robert Rodriquez and wife Ashley of Lubbock, Eric Rodriquez and wife Melissa of Amarillo, his brothers and sisters: Irma Perez of Amarillo, Alfred Rodriquez of Harlingen, Tony Rodriquez of Corpus Christi, Edward Rodriquez of Amarillo, Rosa Mirales of Cresson, Dora Jones of San Antonio and Anna Jordan of Colorado Springs, CO. and his grandchildren: Gerritt VanZee, Claire VanZee, William Vanzee, Mia Rodriquez, Merrillee Rodriquez, Reagan Gilbert, Reylee Rodriquez, and Tucker Rodriquez.
