Ethel Belk, 92, of Plainview, passed away at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, August 14, 2005 at Christian Manor. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at First Baptist Church Family Life Chapel with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor and Rev. Don Robertson, pastor of College Heights Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mrs. Belk was born on October 19, 1912 in Bradley, Oklahoma to Ernest and Kathrine White Bradley. Mrs. Belk was a life time residence of Plainview. She had played basketball and graduated from Running Water School. She had married Bud Belk on November 6, 1932 in the Running Water Community. The Belk’s had farmed north of Edmonson from 1932 to 1965. Mr. Belk died November 10, 1965. Mrs. Belk continued farming until 1978. She was a member of Triple L Club (Live Longer & Like It), Knife and Fork Club, Promenade Club, and First Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Loyd Morphis of Edmonson; two sisters Juanita Walker of Plainview, Lois Osburn of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two grandchildren Todd Morphis and his wife Jo Betsy of Plainview, Tonya Parkinson and her husband Thomas of Universal City; five great grandchildren Clay Morphis, Tori Morphis, Landon Parkinson, Kyler Parkinson, Conner Parkinson. Mrs. Belk is preceded in death by her husband Bud; a son Donnie Belk; a sister Margie Duvall. Memorials may be made to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, P. O. Box 1890, Amarillo, TX 79174.
