Martha Anderson (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Martha Anderson, 93, died Thursday, November 1, 2012 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 3, 2012 in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Davenport officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held from 11:00 to 12:00 Saturday, November 3, 2012 at the funeral home. Martha was born April 27, 1919 in Ft. Worth to Winnie and Walter Warren. The oldest of four children she attended schools in Arkansas and is a 1940 graduate of Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas where she served as a math instructor until her marriage to A.M. (Moss) Anderson on June 25, 1946. They moved to Swisher County, Texas on July 2, 1946 where she was a housewife and a member of the First Baptist Church. She taught in the Jr. High Sunday school department for over 50 years and was active in all phases of the church serving on many committees. She was a member of the Progressive Study Club from 1951 to 2009. She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, one brother and her husband, Moss Anderson who died June 11, 1980. Survivors include her son: Joe Anderson and wife Lani of Amarillo, three grandsons: Marcelle Anderson and Tabitha of Lubbock, Kiel Anderson of Austin and Phillip Anderson of Amarillo, a sister: Lou Moore and husband Neil of Austin, three great grandchildren: Trysta, Gavyn and Pyper and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Scholarship Fund @ First Baptist Church 101 N. Crosby, Tulia, Texas 79088.
