Melinda "Sis" Waldroop (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Melinda Howell “Sis” Waldroop, 57, died Thursday, November 1, 2012 in Amarillo. Memorial services will be held at 5:00 pm Monday, November 5, 2012 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Stone officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 pm Sunday, November 4, 2012 at the funeral home. Melinda was born March 20, 1955 to Sible and Houston Simmons in Canyon. She grew up in Tulia. She graduated West Texas A&M University in 1994. She was a Special Ed. teacher at LaMesa Elementary in Plainview for the past 15 years. She is survived by her daughters: Debbie Bernal of Amarillo and Bobbie Waldroop of Palm Coast, Florida, her father: Houston Simmons of Tulia, three brothers: Craig Simmons of Tulia, Bentley Simmons of Tulia and John Simmons of Lubbock, one sister: Renee Simmons of Tulia, three grandsons: Corey Waldroop of Amarillo, Joey Goddard and Maddy Goddard both of Palm Coast, Florida.
