J.W. Dines, III (Plainview)

J.W. Dines III, 88, of Lubbock passed away Monday, December 31, 2007 at his residence. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 3, 2008 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Plainview with Rev. Ken Horn, Chaplain of NursCare Hospice of Lubbock officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulia, Texas under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. Dines was born on November 5, 1919 in Lockney. He grew up and attended schools there. He then moved to Kress. He farmed with his father for many years and he later owned and operated a machine shop. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Plainview. He married Margaret Ellen Anderson on February 7, 1946 in Plainview. She preceded him in death on August 24, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his parents, J.W. Jr. and Ollie Kay Dines. He is survived by one daughter, Jackie Graham of Lubbock; one son, Jim Dines of Duncan, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Keith Graham and Kevin Graham of Lubbock, Judy Dines of Duncan, Oklahoma; and a brother, Robert Bruce Dines of Kingsland, Texas. The family will receive friends and family for visitation on Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. The family suggests memorials to NursCare Hospice, 1312 Texas Ave., Lubbock, Texas 76051 or the Alzheimer’s Association.
