January 11, 2008 Silverton, Texas— Rena Persons Schott, 89, passed away on Friday, January 11, 2008 in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 13, 2008 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Les Reed, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Silverton Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Rena was born in Quitaque on January 14, 1918 to Amos and Ollie Persons, the youngest and last remaining of their nine children. Rena was married to W. E. Schott, Jr. for 44 years. He preceded her in death on June 20, 1984. Rena left Quitaque to attend Texas Tech and Draughn’s Business College in Amarillo before returning to work for the AAA in Silverton. She was proud to be a life-long resident of Briscoe County and left only when frailty required assisted living care. Rena was active in the March of Times Study Club, Order of the Eastern Star and the First Baptist Church of Silverton. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law; John Edward Schott and wife LaQuetta of Silverton, Texas, David Persons Schott and wife Cindy of Amarillo and William Ray Schott and wife Christine of San Antonio and one daughter and son-in-law; Mary Lynn Neff and husband Roy of Dublin, Texas, nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
