Lily Elizabeth Bench, 79, of Plainview, passed Sunday, November 18, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Kornerstone Funeral Director Chapel with Mr. Steve Gaunt, of Garland Street Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Lily was born July 7, 1933 to Alvin and Lou Anna Cargill in Plainview, Texas. She grew up and attended schools in Sethward. She married Billy Ray Bench on December 27, 1947 in Plainview. He preceded her in death.She was a farmer’s wife which meant she helped on the farm as well as kept the house in order. She was a part of the Snyder Junior Home Demonstration Club and was a member of 9th and Columbia Church of Christ. She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Bench; two daughters, Betty Jane Sheppard and Linda Wilson; her parents, Alvin and Lou Anna Cargill; three brothers, Charles, Robert, and Jimmy Dwayne Cargill; two sisters, Gwendolyn Sears and Geneva Phillips. She is survived by one son, Thomas Bench of Plainview, TX; two granddaughters, Kellie Brown and Mary Wilson both of Plainview, TX; four grandsons, Robby Sheppard and James Bench of Plainview, TX, Terence Kovar of Lubbock, TX, and Ernie Kovar of Fort Worth, TX; six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren.
