Charles Owen Hawkins (Plainview)

Charles Owen Hawkins, 76, of Plainview, passed away at 6:45 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2005. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at St. Alice Catholic Church with Father Jim McCartney officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. Hawkins was born on September 24, 1928 in Vernon, Texas to Owen Southern and Cecilia Laughoff Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins grew up in Vernon and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Lila Harris on July 18, 1947 in San Francisco, California. He moved to Plainview in 1965. Mr. Hawkins worked as an auto mechanic for Maggard-Nall Motors and McGavock Motors in Plainview. He was a member of the V.F.W. For the past five years Mr. Hawkins had lived in the home of Jarvis & Ken Farlow. He is survived by his wife: Lila Hawkins; Five Daughters: Vickie Hutton of Shamrock, TX, Glynda Jackson Patton of Edmonson, TX, Debbie Morphis of Levelland, TX, Mary Ann Shackelford of Rogers, AR and Teresa Holloman of Searcy, AR; One Son: Russell Hawkins of Bentonville, AR; Two Sisters: Willie Mae Lloyd of Decatur, TX and Alice Coleman of Albuquerque, NM; Seventeen Grandchildren and Nine Great Grandchildren.
