Alma Faye Shugart, 80, of Plainview passed away Monday, January 28, 2008 in Hereford. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 31, 2008 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Tom Reynolds of Lubbock officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mrs. Shugart was born October 28, 1927 in Willow, OK, to Howard and Lillie Pearl West. She married Floyd Shugart on Feb. 2, 1945 in Sayre, Ok. Mrs. Shugart was a Sunday School Teacher at North Side Baptist Church in Dimmitt. She loved to sew, quilt, and crochet and also loved to cook, camp and read the Bible every night. She was a very loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd Shugart, one great granddaughter, Elizabeth Kelley, four brothers, Leonard West, Hester West, Chester West and Basel West; three sisters, Sylvia Cookston, Opal Lonas and Clara Bell West. She is survived by four daughters: Bonnie Carlson of Hereford, Christine Smoot of Childress, JoAnn Brooks of Olton and Treva Smith of Banks, OR; one son: Larry Shugart of Hugoton, KS; three sisters: Annie Mae Snider of Loyalton, CA, Ruby Snider of Loyalton, CA and Connie Tyler of Valley View, TX, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
