Cindy Byrd Reed (Plainview)

Cindy Byrd Reed of Kress, TX went to be with her Lord on January 1, 2013. She was born on June 4, 1952 in Plainview, TX to C.R. Byrd and Marie Weil Byrd. Cindy grew up in Kress, TX and graduated from Kress High School in 1970. During high school, Cindy played basketball and ran track and was a member of the choir and cheer squad. She attended Texas Tech University and was a member of the Alphi Chi Omega sorority. She and Joe married on November 30, 1974 in Kress, TX. Cindy was actively involved in her children’s activities, including Plainview Bulldogs sports, Little Dribblers, 4-H, PTA and church youth. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Plainview and the Morning Light Sunday School Class. Cindy was a past-president of the Plainview Junior Service League and past-Director of the Plainview-area Texas Tech Ex-students Association. Cindy worked for Covenant Home Health Care for 25+ years as an Office Manager and Medicare/Medicaid Billing Specialist. Cindy loved Texas Tech sports, especially Lady Raider basketball and football. She is survived by her husband, Joe Reed of Kress, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Aaron Busse of Plano, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Ryan and Denise Reed of Humble, TX; mother, Marie Byrd of Lubbock, TX; father, C.R. Byrd of Plainview, TX; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dianne and Chris Hale of Cypress, TX and Mistee and Stacy Dorman of Lubbock, TX; also survived by 4 nieces and 3 nephews. Cindy is preceded in death by her brother, Lyndon Byrd. Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Plainview TX on Saturday, January 5 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Jeff Taylor and Dr. Max Browning officiating. Burial will follow in Kress Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Pallbearers are Terry McEachern, Richard McClure, Joe Gregg, Reggie Rollins, David Wilder and Rodney Bell. The family would like to thank Interim Hospice of Lubbock and caregiver, Ruby Owens. Special thanks to the staff of Memory Care at Raider Ranch in Lubbock. Visitation will be held at the Kornerstone Funeral Home in Plainview TX on Friday evening from 5 to 6 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church in Plainview, TX or your favorite charity.
