Margaret Horan (Plainview)

Margaret George Horan, 97, of Plainview passed away on January 2, 2013 at Plainview Health Care. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 5, 2013 at First Baptist Church Family Life Chapel with Dr. Tim Marrow officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday, January 4, 2013 at the funeral home. Margaret was born December 10, 1915 to Ervin and Zerita George in Jet (Alfalfa County) Oklahoma. She moved with her family from Alfalfa County, OK to Ochltree County, TX as a child. She graduated Perryton, Texas High School in 1933. She married Shirley Coppoc Horan on September 10, 1937 at the farm home of her parents in Ochltree County, Texas near Perryton. She and Shirley moved to Plainview in 1945 with their three children too farm and irrigate land. They farmed south of Plainview and had a small dairy until the late 70’s. They moved close to Edmonson in 1979 and continued to farm. Margaret enjoyed outdoor life, faming, and raising animals. She was a member of First Baptist Church and The Pastor’s Class. She is preceded in death by her husband, S.C. Horan; her parents, Ervin & Zerita George; one son, Dale Keith Horan; and three brothers, Lewis, Chester, and Earl George. Survivors include one son, Roger Horan & wife Betty of Rock Port, TX, one daughter, Kathy Norris & husband Vernon of Mayhill, NM; six grandchildren, Russell Horan of Fort Worth, TX Reid & Raj Horan of Plainview, TX, Dale Haralson of Fort Worth, Dana Haralson Myers of Hot Springs, AZ, Kim Massey of Plainview, TX; and ten great grandchildren.
