Tulia, Texas--Bonnie Mae Purdy, 84, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour surrounded by loved ones in Midland, TX on Friday, January 18, 2013. She was born July 15, 1928 to James & Delorse (Lois) Stidham in Cherokee County, TX. Bonnie married Dorman G. Purdy in December, 1947. Bonnie & Dorman moved to Lubbock in 1952 and made their home there until 1976, when they moved to Tulia, TX. Bonnie went to work at Allsups in Tulia and was a store manager for many years. One of her greatest joys was helping those around her who needed help. She willingly shared whatever she had whenever a need arose. She loved baking homemade rolls for her children when they came to visit. She was a long-time member of First Assembly of God Church in Tulia, TX. She was an amazing Christian woman who served God faithfully throughout her lifetime and taught her children to know and love God. She is survived by her son Ray Purdy and wife Lisa of Paris, TX, and her daughter Delorce (Dee) Holly and husband Craig of Midland, TX, one sister, Emma Choate of Tulia, TX and one brother, Roy Stidham and wife Loretta of Peralta, NM, her five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, a loving group of sister-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorman, her son, James Purdy, her grandson, William Purdy, as well as her parents, and brothers James, Johnny, Bennie, Floyd, Henry, Chuck, Adrian and Alvin. A visitation for family and friends will be received at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Tulia, TX from 2:00-3:30 on Sunday, January 20th. Funeral services are set for Monday, January 21st at 11:00 am at the First Assembly of God Church in Tulia, TX followed by a graveside service at 3:00 pm at Resthaven Cemetery in Lubbock, TX. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels of Tulia, TX.
