R.S. “Bobby” Douglas, 82, of Plainview, died on January 23, 2013 in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Chaplain Oscar Chavez officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Bobby was born May 8, 1930 to Robert and Jimmie Douglas in Mills, New Mexico. He grew up in Plainview and graduated from Plainview High School. He married Frankye Pass on August 27, 1949 in Plainview. He started working for Southwestern Bell in 1950 and retired from AT & T after 35 years. In 1985 he started his own business with his son Steve. He owned and operated Douglas Telecom until his untimely death. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Elk Lodge, Horner Lake Association, and served many years as the President of the local Communications Workers of America. He is preceded in death by his wife, his parents; and one sister, Joan Kernell. He is survived by two daughters, Sherri Elkins of Amarillo, and Cathy Pritchard of Abilene; two sons, Steve Douglas of Plainview, and Gary Douglas & wife Linda of Amarillo; two brothers, Embre Douglas & wife LouAnn of Lockney, and Jimmy Douglas of Lubbock; two sisters, Jean Ashton of Lubbock, and Marie Cox & husband Vonnie of Lubbock; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
