Jerry Wayne Alvis (Plainview)

Jerry Wayne Alvis, age 67, went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, February 22, 2008 in Lubbock, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 25, 2008 at the Seth Ward Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Ritter officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. Alvis was born on April 18, 1940 in Hopkins County, Texas. He moved to Plainview in 1944 and married Joyce Smith in 1971. He worked at Harvest Queen Mill from 1973 – 1990. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Survivors include his wife Joyce Alvis of Plainview; three daughters, Tammy Bolding, Paula & Scott Voyles, and Shelly & Joshua Samarripa all of Plainview; two brothers James & Beverly Alvis, and Jackie & Carolyn Alvis both of Plainview; two sisters Diane & Doyce Patridge of Plainview, and Jeannette & Hoppy Akin of Murchison, Texas; and three grandchildren David & Shana Jo Bolding and Jesse Samarripa. He was preceded in death by his parents, W.C. and Dolly Mae Alvis, a nephew Chris Alvis and a son-in-law Jeff Bolding. The family will receive friends and family on Sunday, February 24, 2008 from 2 to 3 P.M. at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview.
