Mike Romero, Jr. (Plainview)

Mike Romero, Jr. 64, of Plainview died on February 14, 2013 in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Arsenio Redulla officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A rosary will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Monday, February 18, 2013 at the funeral home. Mike was born August 2, 1948 to Miguel and Felipa Romero in Grand Traverse, MI. When he was 8 his family moved to Plainview. He grew up here and made a home. He married Janie Basaldua on August 3, 1969 in Tulia, TX. He was a beloved father, grandfather, uncle and brother. He had a passion for music and the Redskins. He enjoyed working in his yard. He will always be remembered for always being there for his kids in whatever way possible. He worked for Azteca Milling Company for 15 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he participated in Knights of Columbus. He is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Michelle Romero; and one brother, Freddy Romero. He is survived by his wife, Janie Romero of Plainview, TX; one daughter, Daphine Trevino & husband Rodger of Plainview, TX; four sons, Rosendo Romero, Sr. of Lubbock, TX, Daniel Romero of Tulia, TX, Armando Romero & wife Lori of Tulia, TX, and Miguel Romero, III of San Angelo, TX; two brothers, Richard Romero of Houston, TX, and Adolfo Romero of Corpus Christi, TX; two sisters, Janie Romero of Corpus Christi, TX, and Velma Ochoa of Corpus Christi, TX; nineteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
