Clara Stukey (Plainview)

Clara Sammann Stukey, 86, of Plainview, died on February 15, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Gerald Boerger officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday, February 18, 2013 at the funeral home. Clara was born on February 11, 1927 to Henry and Louise Sammann in the Prairieview Community. She grew up and attended schools in Prairieview. She graduated high school from Plainview High School. She attended Draughon’s Business College and later attended and graduated from Texas Lutheran College. She married Paul Stukey on June 15, 1956. She taught at Hillcrest here in Plainview before they moved to Carthage, Missouri where she taught for several years. They moved back to Plainview in 1959 and she stayed at home to raise her children. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She is preceded in death by her husband Paul Stukey; one sister, Freda Boedeker; two brothers, Albert & Ernest Sammann; and one grandson, Brian Hancock. She is survived by five sons, Victor Stukey, Leland Stukey & Linda Cain, Kenneth Stukey & wife Lea, Gaylen Stukey all of Plainview, TX, and Clifford Stukey & wife Lynn of Amarillo, TX; one sister, Laura Brandes of Palm Desert, CA; three sisters-in-law, Bobette Stukey of Carthage, MO, Marie Kirby of Dimmit, TX, and Lucille Abbiatti of Carthage, MO; 12 grandchildren, Kelton Stukey, Sheldon Stukey, Clayton Stukey, Braydon Stukey, Jennifer Lewis, Christina Bettag, Alyssa Stukey, Kendra Stukey, Michelle Gilly, Stephanie Stukey, Tiffany Sallee, Brandon Gage; and 16 great grandchildren. The family would like to express a special thanks to her caregivers Rosie Marie Lamb, Terry and Maria Zamora, Sonia Magallanes, Toni Gonzales, and the staff of Santa Fe House.
