Tulia, Texas— Elven House, 75, died Wednesday, February 27, 2008 in Amarillo. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 29, 2008 in Rose Hill Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at the 6th and Gaines Church of Christ. Arrangements are under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Elven was born on May 27, 1932 in Bray, Oklahoma to Elbert and Zillie House. They moved to Tulia when Elven was very young. He attended schools in Tulia and graduated from Tulia High School in 1949. He attended Lippert’s Business College in Plainview. He enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1953 and served his country. He was a business man and a farmer. He farmed in the area for many years. He was a member of the 6th and Gaines Church of Christ, where he served as an Elder. He married Wanda Jack on June 17, 1951 in Plainview. Survivors include his wife, Wanda House of Tulia; three sons, Gary House and wife Lori of Lubbock, Larry House and wife Joni of Lubbock, Michael House and wife Rhonda of Woodstock, Georgia; one brother, Leland House of Tulia; one sister, Etta Kelton of Amarillo; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Glenn, Dean, Deryl House. The family suggests memorials to the Children’s Home of Lubbock, 4404 Idalou Hwy, Lubbock, Texas 79403 or the Children’s Home of Amarillo, 3400 S. Bowie, Amarillo, Texas 79109. The family will receive friends and family for visitation at the funeral home on thursday evening from 6 to 7 p.m.
