Alfonza Hernandez (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Alfonza Hernandez, 87, died Wednesday, February 20, 2013 in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2013 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Father Marco Gonzalez officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A rosary will be held at 7:00 pm Friday, February 22, 2013 at the funeral home. She grew up in Eagle Pass and San Antonio. She married Manuel Hernandez on February 20, 1950 in Eagle Pass. They moved to Lockney in 1952 and to Tulia in 1961. She was a homemaker and a member of the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit. She is preceded in death by her parents: Gonzalo and Maria Lara, her husband: Manuel Hernandez and one daughter: Carmen Hernandez. Survivors include two daughters: Maria Avila of Tulia and Tina Hernandez of Plainview, three sons: Joe Hernandez and wife Emma, Juan Hernandez and Phillip Hernandez, all of Tulia, two sisters: Antonia Rocha of Tulia and Josefina Contreras of Lamesa, 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
