Doris Henderson (Plainview)

Doris Henderson, 80, formerly of Plainview, Texas passed away on Friday, March 7, 2008 at the Regency House in San Angelo, Texas. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 10, 2008 at the Family Life Chapel of the First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview, Texas. Born Doris Ann Armstrong in Paducah, Texas to Lawrence Albert Armstrong and Essie Myrtle Shields Armstrong on June 21, 1927. She graduated from Meadow High School and shortly after moved to Plainview, Texas where she married the love of her life, Hershel Henderson on February 6, 1948. She is preceded in death by her husband and a daughter. Mrs. Henderson was a member of the First Baptist Church. She served in Business & Professional Women’s Club for several years following retirement from Atmos Energy and later served as a member of Plainview’s VIP volunteer organization. She was best known for the love and hospitality extended to friends and family. Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Allan and wife Beverly Henderson of San Angelo, and Ted Henderson of Hemet, California; three granddaughters, including Sharina McMahon and husband John of Abilene and two great-granddaughters. Special thanks to Evalene McDonald and Nancy Durbin for their prayerful vigil during the preceding 18 months. A special thanks also to the staff at Regency House in San Angelo and friend Doris Tomlinson. The family suggests memorials to Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1984, Plainview, Texas 79072 or the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 205 W. 8th, Plainview, Texas 79072. The family will be available at Evalene McDonald’s house before and after the service on Monday.
