Truman Lawton “Lee” Bridwell 77, of Plainview, Texas passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at his residence. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church Sanctuary with Rev. Travis Bennett officiating and Rev. Jerry Moore assisting. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview, Texas. Lee was born on October 17, 1930 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Lawton and Gracie Bridwell. He grew up all over Oklahoma. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1947 and served as an Air Traffic Controller in Japan, Okinawa, Korea, Germany, and France. He retired from the military after 20 years of service and worked for the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) as a civilian air traffic controller in Albuquerque, Plainview, and Roswell before retiring in 1981. He was a partner in Bridwell-Graham Realtors and has been involved in Real Estate for many years and currently worked with ERA Roberts & Wilkins Realtors. He was also a reserve deputy with the Hale County Sheriff’s Department. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Texas State Board of Realtors. He married June Hauser on January 1, 1952 in Florida. Survivors include his wife June Bridwell of Plainview; a daughter, Sandra Bedwell and husband Herman of Lubbock; two sons, Robert Bridwell and wife Renee of Plainview, Richard Bridwell and wife Nikki of Pilot Point, TX; one brother, Ronnie Bridwell and wife Nancy of Lindsey, OK; one sister, Kay Endsley and husband Herman of Tuttle, OK; three grandchildren, Krista Mares of Lubbock, Keenon Bridwell of Brownwood, TX, Tiffany Cole of Commerce, TX; two great grandchildren, Natalie Mares, Nathan Mares, and one great grandchild on the way. The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church Activity Center, 1007 W. 7th Street, Plainview, Texas 79072. The family will be available for a visitation on Friday evening, March 14, 2008 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Kornerstone Funeral Directors.
