Tulia, Texas—Gale Stephens, 86, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013 in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, March 25, 2013 in the Central Church of Christ with Mr. Bruce Baird, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Gale was born June 18, 1926 in Parnell, Texas to Ammon Ben and Mary Etta Stephens. He attended schools at Parnell and Turkey and graduated from Turkey High School in 1943. He served in the US Army Infantry during WWII. He married Lou Alexander on March 29, 1948 in Portales, NM. He owned and operated Gale’s Texaco Station in Tulia for 37 years. He was active in the Tulia Senior Citizens and Meals on Wheels. He was a member of Central Church of Christ. His family included his wife: Lou Stephens of Tulia, one daughter and son-in-law: Sherry and Jeff Johnson of Pampa, one son and daughter-in-law: Jerry and Judy Stephens of Ft. Myers, Florida, two brothers: Warren Stephens and wife Francis of Amarillo, Billy Rex Stephens and wife Fadella of San Antonio, three grandchildren: Kyle Johnson of Meadow, Wendy Stephens and Deanna Stephens, both of Ft.
