Ronnie Brooks (Silverton)

Silverton, Texas--Ronnie Brooks, 67, died Monday, March 25, 2013 in Amarillo. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Ronnie was born July 20, 1945 to Frederick and Lucille Brooks in Granite City, Illinois. He grew up in Pennsylvania. He moved to Silverton in 1988 and worked for Johnson’s Gin. He retired from Gilvan and Terrell in Amarillo as a longtime serviceman with their road crew. He enjoyed doing mechanic work, paint and body work and carpentry work. His true love was his grandchildren, Ronnie and Lucas had become buddies and he thought Bella was the sweetest little girl ever. Ronnie’s last years were spent with happiness and pride with those babies and they loved their “Pops” very dearly. Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, his sister: Nancy Hayes and his brother-in-law: Thurman Campbell. He is survived by: two daughters and a son-in-law: Misty Holt and husband Lance of Silverton and Jessica Brooks of San Francisco, CA, his grandson: Lucas Holt of Silverton, his granddaughter: Isabella Holt of Silverton, his brother: Frederic (Fred) Brooks and wife Charlene of Watauga, TX, his sister: Anita Campbell of Bloomsdale, MO, his brother-in-law: William Joseph (Bill) Hayes of Conshohocken, Pennsylvania and a special friend: Sheila Brooks of Silverton. A visitation will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the home of Misty and Lance Holt. The family suggests memorials be made to the Tri-County Meals or to the Silverton Volunteer Ambulance Service.
