Dr. Roy McClung, 95 of Louisville, Kentucky formerly of Plainview,TX, died on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 in Louisville, KY. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 1, 2013 at 2:30 P.M. at First Baptist Church of Plainview with Dr. Travis Hart officiating, assisted by Dr. Chad Chaddick and Dr. Paul Armes. Private family burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 1, 2013 in the parlor of First Baptist Church. Dr McClung was born September 17, 1917 to Joseph and Ethel McClung in Frederick, OK. He graduated from Manitou High School in 1934 followed by Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Ok in 1941. He later received his Doctorate of Theology from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. He married Genelle Bucklew on August 1, 1941 in Carnegie, OK. She preceded him in death in 1995. He pastored in Indiana, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Texas and International Baptist Church in Brussels, Belgium. He is currently listed as the Pastor Emeritus of Ninth and O Baptist Church in Louisville, KY. He was the pastor of First Baptist church in Plainview from 1958 until 1963. He was appointed the 8th President of Wayland Baptist University and served for 17 years. He retired as President Emeritus in 1980. After retirement he served as the interim pastor at many churches in Texas and New Mexico before going to Brussels. Once again he retired in 1998 and married Betty Hartman on October 3, 1998. Dr. McClung and Betty lived in Lubbock for a couple of years before moving back to Louisville. He is survived by his wife Betty McClung of Louisville, KY; his children, Dr. Michael McClung & wife Betsy of Portland, OR, Nancy Chaddick & husband RoGene of Clovis, NM, and Dr. Mark McClung of Seattle, WA; three grandchildren, Dr. Chad Chaddick & wife Marci of San Antonio, TX, Mandy Ratliff & husband Russell of Denison, TX and Dr. Daniel McClung of Pittsburg, PA; and four great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife; his parents, Joseph and Ethel McClung; and two brothers, Ray & Ralph McClung.
