Mark Ellerd, 86, of Petersburg, passed away at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2005 in Lubbock, Texas. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at Petersburg Cemetery with Mr. Sven Appleton of Ralls, Texas officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. Ellerd was born on June 11, 1919 in Lakeview, Texas. He married Ruby Miller on November 8, 1945 in Clovis, New Mexico. Mr. Ellerd grew up in the Lakeview Community. He was a farmer and a Horse Trainer. His passion was training Cutting Horses which he won many awards. He was a member of the Eastern New Mexico Appaloosa Horse Club and Golden Spread Appaloosa Horse Club. He retired from farming in 1976. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Ellerd of Petersburg; three sons, Vernal Ellerd of Arlington, TX, Eddy Ellerd of Plano, TX, and James Ellerd of Levelland, TX; a daughter, Oma Rycroft of Midwest City, OK; Five Grandchildren, Fourteen Great Grandchildren, and One Great Great Grandchild. He was preceded in death his parents James and Eliza Ellerd; a brother, Charlie Ellerd and a sister, Essie Briggs Memorials maybe made to EMS of Petersburg.
