Tulia, Texas— Von Dean Otwell, 67, of Spur, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008 in Crosbyton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 21, 2008 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Mr. Darrell Bledsoe and Mr. Dick Marcear, ministers at the Church of Christ at the Colonies in Amarillo officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Von Dean was born November 9, 1940 in Tipton, Oklahoma. He grew up in Tulia and attended Tulia High School. He served in the US Army from 1959 to 1962. He worked for Swisher Electric for 20 years and for Dickens Electric at Spur until 1995. He worked at the Dickens County Prison as a tower guard. Survivors include two daughters; Denise Davis and husband James of Tulia and DeeAnn Pruitt and husband Dennis of Lubbock, two step-daughters; Debra Mattes of Dallas and Victoria Edwards of Houston, one sister; Barbara Watson of Kress and two brothers; Roger Otwell and David Otwell both of Amarillo, 7 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, one niece and nephew; Rachel Otwell of Amarillo and Adam Otwell of Amarillo.
