Charles “Jack” Godfrey, 84, of Plainview, died on Thursday, April 25, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 29, 2013 at Garland Street Church of Christ with Mr. Steve Gauntt officiating and Mr. J.W. Hamby assisting. Burial will follow in Hart Cemetery in Hart, Texas under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2013 at the funeral home. Charles was born on November 17, 1928 in Cold Springs, Oklahoma to Carl and Birdie Godfrey. He grew up in the Olton and Hart communities. He graduated from Hart High School in 1946. He married Barbara Felder on December 20, 1950 in Clovis, New Mexico. He worked for the Cox Butane Company in Hart before they moved to Plainview in 1957. He worked for Whites Auto for several years before going to work for the Hamby Company in the mid 1960’s until its closing. He then worked for Bob Deisher for another five years before retiring. Charles couldn’t quite retire so he worked for Ramsower’s Furniture for another five years. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Godfrey and his parents, Carl and Birdie Godfrey He is survived by his wife, Barbara Godfrey of Plainview; one son, Mike Godfrey and wife Cathy of Georgetown; one grandson, Justin Godfrey and wife Angela of Austin; and one brother, Danny Godfrey and wife Terrye of Plainview.
