Birdie Mae Godfrey(Plainview)

Birdie Mae Godfrey 98, formerly of Hart, Texas passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at Prairie House Living Center in Plainview. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 28, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Hart, Texas with Rev. Matt Baird officiating. Burial will follow in Hart Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview, Texas. Birdie was born on January 18, 1910 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Frank and Bertha Conard. She grew up in Oklahoma. They moved to Olton in 1937 and then to Hart in 1942. She worked as a cafeteria supervisor for Hart ISD for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hart and the Good Neighbor Club. She married Carl Godfrey on December 31, 1927 in Kiowa County, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Roy, Ernest, Tex, and Wilbur Conard; four sisters, Ovella Burrus, Ella Higdon, Vinnie Woodward, Christine Davis. Survivors include two sons, Charles Jack Godfrey of Plainview, Danny Godfrey of Plainview, two grandsons, Mike Godfrey of Georgetown and Jimmy Godfrey of Lubbock, Texas; and one great-grandson, Justin Godfrey of Georgetown, Texas. The family suggests memorials to the Hart Cemetery Association or the First Baptist Church of Hart.
