James E. Shurbet (Plainview)

James “Strawberry” Shurbet, 75, of Petersburg died on Wednesday, May 8, 2013. A memorial celebration will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 11, 2013 at First Baptist Church with Mr. Jim Fullingim officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. James was born October 11, 1937 to Lilburn & Grace Shurbet in Cone, TX. He graduated from Ralls High School. He married Jean Smithee on March 20, 1964 in Ralls, TX. He served in the United States Army. James worked for G.T.E for 36 years before retiring in 1993. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Petersburg. He is survived by his wife Jean Ann Shurbet of Petersburg, TX; one daughter, Stephanie Matthews & husband Ted of Petersburg, TX; three sons, Russ Shurbet of Chicago, IL, Mike Shurbet & wife Anita of Amarillo, TX, and Todd Shurbet & wife Robin of Amarillo, TX; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
