Jose Contreras (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Jose Contreras, 80, died Saturday, May 18, 2013 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, May 21, 2013 in the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit with Father Marco Gonzalez officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A rosary will be held on Monday, May 20, 2013 at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Jose was born November 21, 19232 in Elsa, Texas to Antonio and Paula Contreras. He grew up in Elsa and moved to Carrizo Springs in 1950. He married Sara Aguero in 1952 and they moved to Tulia in 1956. He worked for Tulia Feed Lot, Taylor-Evans Seed Co. and Roll-A-Cone where he retired. He was a member of the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law and a great grandson. He is survived by his wife: Sara Contreras of Tulia, two daughters: Vicki Cruz and husband Fernando of Kress and Elizabeth Garza of Amarillo, four sons: Joe Contreras and wife Lupita of Amarillo, Francisco Contreras of Seattle, Adolfo Contreras and wife Olivia of Tulia and Robert Mireles and wife Enedina of Tulia, one brother: Margarito Contreras of Chicago, one sister-in-law: Maria Walker of Tulia, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great, great grandchildren.
