James Butcher, 75, of Plainview, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2013.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 31, 2013 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Mr. Van Miller, Elder of Northwest Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2013 from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. James was born January 9, 1938 to Oscar and Hattie Butcher in Yarnaby, OK. He moved to Silverton as a teenager and attended schools there. He married Betty Butcher April 15, 1960 in Plainview, TX. He joined the United States Army and served several years. He worked on a farm in Happy, TX. He moved to Plainview in 1969 and joined the Plainview Fire Department and worked there for 20 years before retiring. He then drove a cattle truck for another 9 years. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Carman Butcher; one brother T.S. Butcher and one sister, Bernice McPherson. He is survived by his wife, Betty Butcher of Plainview; two sons, Randy Butcher & wife Margie of Lubbock, and Steve Butcher & wife Eva of Sudan; one brother, Dean Butcher & wife Betty of Canyon; and two sisters, Ruth Brown of Bonham, and Lois Ziegler of Silverton; two grandchildren, Amber Mayne & husband Josh, Tanner Hulcy & wife Cory both of Tyler; and one great granddaughter, Blake Hulcy of Tyler.
