Vickie Sheryl Wright, 64, of Alto, N.M. formerly of Plainview, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2013 in Lubbock. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church Family Life Chapel with Mr. Lanny Voss officiating and Mr. Phillip Golden assisting. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday prior to the memorial service in the Parlor of the First Baptist Church. Vickie was born on August 24, 1948 in Littlefield, Texas to Hugo and Dorothy Beyer. She grew up in Dimmitt and graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1966. She married Joe Wright on June 4, 1966 in Dimmitt. She worked as the education secretary for the First Baptist Church in Plainview for over 10 years. In 1992, she and Joe began Southwest Passage Travel which they still owned until her untimely death. They moved to Ruidoso, New Mexico in 2003 and built their dream home in Alto. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Plainview and then the First Baptist Church in Ruidoso. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hugo and Dorothy Beyer; sister, Donna Denise Meacham; and a brother, Micheal Beyer. She is survived by her husband, Joe Wright of Alto, N.M., son, Joe-Michael Wright and wife Cassie of Denver, CO; daughter, Shelbye Marie Hunt and husband Brian of Lubbock, TX; one grandchild, Marleigh Kathryn Hunt of Lubbock; and a niece, Kippie Meacham of Carlsbad, California; and several other extended family members.
