Tulia, Texas—Fay Culwell Berry Metcalf, 69, died Sunday, April 20, 2008 in Midland. Graveside services will be held at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2008 in Wayside Cemetery in Wayside, Texas followed by a memorial services at 11:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Tulia, Texas with Rev. Ken McMeans and Rev. Charles Kiker, officiating. Services are under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at the funeral home. Fay was born July 21, 1938 in Swisher County, Texas to Dallas and Lois Culwell. She attended school at San Jacinto rural school before going to Tulia High School where she graduated in 1955. She worked in and around Tulia many years as a hairdresser and waitress, where she made a host of friends. Fay was an accomplished artist. She was generous with her time, talents and love. Survivors include her husband; Darwin Metcalf of Amarillo, one son; Carl Berry and wife Clare of Tulia, two daughters; Carmen Jessop and husband Jody of Presho, South Dakota and Celia Howard and husband Lee of Midland, Texas, two sisters; Patricia Kiker and husband Charles of Tulia and Colene Williamson and husband Layne of Tulia, one brother; Theron Culwell and wife Carolyn of St. Francis, Kansas, two step-brothers; Terry Culwell of St. Frances, Kansas and Craig Culwell of Tulia, one step-sister; Denise Music of Happy, Texas, ten grandchildren; Bronc, Blaze, Cody, and Sterling Berry, Katelyn Hendricks, Tiffany Roderick, Jake and Jordan Jessop, Candice and Kelsi Howard and three great grandchildren; Madison Berry, Kolt Berry and Jaylee Poole. She is survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Dallas and Lois Culwell, two sisters; Lanelle Horn and Betty Mote, a brother; Gene Culwell and a granddaughter; Kaci Howard.
