Travis Mulanax, 81, of Petersburg, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Main Street Church of Christ in Petersburg with Mr. Owen Carr officiating. Interment will follow in Petersburg Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be held from 6-7:30 Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at the funeral home. Mr. Mulanax was born on January 8, 1932 to Tommy and Bessie Mulanax in Elmore, Oklahoma. He grew up in Borger and his family then moved to Clarendon. He graduated from Clarendon High School in 1950 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served during the Korean War. He married his high school sweetheart Nadine Moffett on June 10, 1953 in Amarillo. Mr. Mulanax worked various jobs before attending Clarendon Junior College and then graduating from West Texas State with a Bachelors in Education. He taught for 32 years in several different communities with the last 13 years in Petersburg, retiring in 1994. He was a substitute teacher for many years and helped Nadine keep children. Mr. Mulanax loved to fish, watch football, play golf and watch westerns on TV. He was a member of Main Street Church of Christ in Petersburg. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. Mr. Mulanax is survived by his wife: Nadine Mulanax of Petersburg; five children: Wayne Mulanax of Petersburg, Terry Mulanax of Petersburg, Carla Wigington & husband Bobby of Ackerly, Lanita Mulanax of Amarillo and Clifton Mulanax & wife Sheri of Marion; two brothers: Leon Mulanax of Austin and Ray Mulanax of Amarillo; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.. Memorials may be made to Main Street Church of Christ or Children’s Home of Lubbock.
