Erlene Barbour (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Erlene Barbour, 87, died Thursday, July 25, 2013 in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, July 29, 2013 in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Stone and Rev. Charles Davenport officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2013 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at the funeral home. Erlene was born September 19, 1925 to Loren and Lora Brooks in Santa Ana, Texas. She was the 2nd oldest of seven children. She grew up and attended schools in Santa Ana. She moved to Tulia in 1945. on December 28, 1946 she married Van Barbour in Plainview. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Tulia. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two daughters: Jimmie Sue Estes and Dorothy Timmons. Her family includes two daughters: Jean Richards and husband Jim of Decatur and Kathy Lust of Lubbock, two sons: Ed Barbour and wife Donna of Sunray and Steve Barbour of Cleburne, two brothers: Gerald Brooks of Ft. Davis and Glean Brooks of Granbury, 17 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and six great, great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 101 N. Crosby, Tulia, Texas 79088 or to the American Heart Association, 2514 82nd St., Lubbock, Texas 79423 or to a favorite charity.
