Tulia, Texas—Mary D. Harman, 84, passed away on April 26, 2008 in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at the Central Church of Christ with Mr. Trey Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Tulia. Mary was born on June 28, 1923 in Donley County, Texas. She grew up in the Windy Valley community near Clarendon. She graduated from Clarendon High School in 1939. She moved to Tulia in 1943. She worked for the Farm Service Administration for 26 years before retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Central Church of Christ. She was also an avid volunteer with the Tulia Senior Citizens for many years. She married Otis Harman on April 22, 2000 in Tulia. He preceded her in death on March 15, 2006. She was also preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Cleaver, one great grandson, Shawn Askins, two brothers, Joe Frank and J.C. Heathington, and parents, John and Velma Heathington. Survivors include two daughters, Katha Pierce of Amarillo, Reba Cox and husband Jim of Brighton, Michigan; five step-daughters, Betty Womack and husband Tommy of Tulia, Patsy Merrill and husband Jerry of Shreveport, LA, Martha Goff and husband Larry of Emory, TX, Mary Beth Hewitt and husband Warren of Gladstone, MO, Pam Edwards and husband Bryan of Tulia; Eight Grandchildren, Sixteen Great Grandchildren, Twenty-one Great Great Grandchildren; two sisters, Evone Holland of Amarillo, Nellie Baldwin of Abilene; and Numerous Nieces and Nephews and Many Extended Family Members. A visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the Hi-Plains Children’s Home or the Tulia Senior Citizens.
